I am a HUGE fan of Cat Clarke's! I love the fact she tackles subjects that are raw, fresh and not always easy to read. Her characters are always perfectly flawed and I can't wait to have another strong female character to get behind! Bring on star wars day! May the 4th!!!!

GEEKERELLA
by Ashely Poston

Pages: 320
Publisher: Quirk Books

Summary

Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.
Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. But when she disappears at midnight, will he ever be able to find her again?
Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom.

DOING IT! LETS TALK ABOUT SEX
by Hannah Witton

Pages: 320 paperback
Publisher: Wren & Rook
ISBN: 1526360039

Summary

Figuring out how to build and maintain healthy relationships - with your family, friends, romantically and with yourself - is a crucial part of being a teen. It's not easy though, particularly in a digital age where information and advice are so forthcoming it can be hard to know who or what to believe or trust. Porn is everywhere, sexting is the norm and messages about body image are highly mixed. Hannah combats this by tackling subjects ranging from masturbation and puberty to slut shaming and consent in an accessible, relatable and extremely honest way. She is unembarrassed about bringing little-discussed topics into the open, and as such empowers teens to have the confidence to conduct relationships on their terms, and in a way that they feel comfortable with.

The Jewel means wealth. The Jewel means beauty. The Jewel means royalty. But for girls like Violet, the Jewel means servitude. Not just any kind of servitude. Purchased at the surrogacy auction by the Duchess of the Lake and greeted with a slap to the face, Violet (now known only as #197) quickly learns of the brutal truths that lie beneath the Jewel’s glittering facade: the cruelty, backstabbing, and hidden violence that have become the royal way of life.
Violet must accept the ugly realities of her existence... and try to stay alive. But then a forbidden romance erupts between Violet and a handsome gentleman hired as a companion to the Duchess’s petulant niece. Though his presence makes life in the Jewel a bit brighter, the consequences of their illicit relationship will cost them both more than they bargained for.

Why I'm waiting...

I'm completely obsessed with fairy tales - always have been - and this whole trend of retelling of our favourite stories is something I wholly support! We've had a lot of Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast & Cinderella retellings over the last 5 or 6 years and I'm really excited for one about Snow White - being as all movie retellings I've seen have been terrible!
We're a generation that loves our fairy tales so why wouldn't I be waiting for this beauty to hit the shelves in october!!

Four
by Veronica Roth

Paperback: 208 pages
Publisher: HarperCollins
Release Date: July 8th 2014
Language: English
ISBN: 0062285688

Two years before Beatrice Prior made her choice, the sixteen-year-old son of Abnegation’s faction leader did the same. Tobias’s transfer to Dauntless is a chance to begin again. Here, he will not be called the name his parents gave him. Here, he will not let fear turn him into a cowering child.
Newly christened “Four,” he discovers during initiation that he will succeed in Dauntless. Initiation is only the beginning, though; Four must claim his place in the Dauntless hierarchy. His decisions will affect future initiates as well as uncover secrets that could threaten his own future—and the future of the entire faction system.
Two years later, Four is poised to take action, but the course is still unclear. The first new initiate who jumps into the net might change all that. With her, the way to righting their world might become clear. With her, it might become possible to be Tobias once again.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth comes a companion volume to the worldwide bestselling divergent series, told from the per-spective of the immensely popular character Tobias. The four pieces included here—The Transfer, The Initiate, The Son, and The Traitor—plus three additional exclusive scenes, give readers an electrifying glimpse into the history and heart of Tobias, and set the stage for the epic saga of the Divergent trilogy.

Why I'm waiting...

I'm having Four withdrawals! Something is seriously wrong with me, I haven't even seen the movie yet!!! I read the first of these short stories back in November and I've been waiting patiently for the rest to come out and for me to have a little more Four in my life. I loved the last book in the Divergent series, although I didn't like the addition of Four's POV because it seemed random as the other books were all Tris. That being said though I'm super excited to have stories told exclusively from Four's POV. For us as readers to get to know him a little better.

Okay so I technically already have an advanced readers copy of this, but I haven't gotten around to reading it so I've decided it still counts! I'm so excited about this book. I adored Mrs Fletcher's first book Billy and Me and it's been the longest year of my life waiting for her second book. It has nothing to do with Billy and Me but Giovanna's writing style is effortless and her character's enchanting and I just can't wait until I get a chance to read this! Out on the 22nd of May for all you muggles!

Love Letters to the Dead
by Ava Dellaira

Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Hot Key Books
Language: English
ISBN: 1471402886

"It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person. Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May did. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to people like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Amelia Earhart, Heath Ledger, and more; though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating new friendships, falling in love for the first time, learning to live with her splintering family. And, finally, about the abuse she suffered while May was supposed to be looking out for her. Only then, once Laurel has written down the truth about what happened to herself, can she truly begin to accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has begun to see her sister as the person she was; lovely and amazing and deeply flawed; can she begin to discover her own path."

Why I'm waiting...
So, I know technically this is out in some places but the UK is not one of them! Paperback comes out on the 1st of May and I can't wait! I honestly can't even put into words how much I want to read this. In fact I'd go as far as to say there isn't a word that amply describes how I feel about this book. Which, will, inevitably lead to disappointment... but I don't care! Can May hurry up and get here please??

PS. Isn't the cover great??
